Preaching To The Heart

Preaching To The Heart

“Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?”
Acts 2:37

Richard Owen Roberts, in his book entitled “Revival” outlines three types of preaching.

Mouth-to-Ear Preaching

The goal is to speak well and to sound good.  This type of preaching does not produce conviction of sin or inspire people to repent.  The emphasis is on the choice of words.

Head-to-Head Preaching

This type of preaching stimulates thinking and affects the minds of the listeners.

Soul-to-Soul Preaching

This type of preaching is leading people closer to God.  These preachers spend hours in preparation of their sermons and then still longer in preparation of their own souls and in agony before God over the souls of men. This type of preaching is very rare but needful in order to see the transformation of lives.

R  relevant
A  anointed
R  result-oriented
E  exciting, evangelistic

Ordinary preaching will produce ordinary results. We need preaching that is extraordinary and deals with the very souls of men.
